ATLANTA (AP) - North Korea's Kye Sun ended the 84-match winning streak of Japan's Ryoko Tamura with a victory in the women's under 48-kilogram (106-pound) division as Olympic judo competition ended Friday.
In the men's event, Tadahiro Nomura of Japan stopped Girolamo Giovinazzo of Italy to capture the under 60 kilogram (132-pound) class.
Hillary Wolf of Chicago, an actress who starred in the ``Home Alone'' movies, lost to Cuba's Amarilis Savon in the quarterfinal.
Clifton Sunada of Honolulu lost his first-round match to Germany's Trautmann
Both Americans advanced to the repechage round but failed to go further. Algeria's Salima Squakri of Algeria eliminated Wolf and Belarus's Natik Bagirov beat Sunada.
Kye's victory was a major upset.
The last time Tamura lost was as a 16-year-old in the 1992 Olympic final to France's Cecile Nowak.
Since then Tamura had not been beaten and took two world championships and gained a measure of invincibility until Kye had a partial takedown in the final minute to gain a points decision over Tamura.
Tamura is nearly a national institution in Japan, where she regularly is featured in magazines and has a number of endorsements and business ties.
Amarilis Savon of Cuba and Yolanda Soler of Spain took the bronze medals
In the men's extra-lightweight final, Nomura was in the lead throughout the match and cemented the victory with a late takedown that gave Japan its third gold medal of the competition.
The men's bronze medals went to Richard Trautmann of Germany and Dorjpalam Narmandakh of Mongolia.
Japan came back to tie France for the top gold medal total with three. Overall Japan and South Korea each had eight medals in the 14 events. France had six, three gold and three bronze.
